Blog Formatting Best Practices

Key elements to include

Today, it's going to get crazy, we’re going to talk about blog formatting best practices.

You may think this means matching your website’s headers and overall style using your brand fonts and color palette. While that IS important, there’s more to it!

There are vital elements that you need to put into your blog. Elements that will ensure that your blog achieves its purpose and is more likely to succeed in customer conversion and reachability.

Confused about what to include and all the crucial elements you need to make sure you get to the top in Google? Not sure how much text is too much?

Take notes and save this as a reminder 👇

✔️ Correct Formatting

Let’s start by explaining what was already mentioned. Make sure to include headers, bullet points, lists, images, and bolded words throughout your blog! It will make your content more visually appealing and easy to read.

BONUS TIP 1: All text should match your website formatting to support your brand. For example, your blog headings should match the headings/titles on your site. Your body text should be the same, and so forth. Wix allows you to preset these in your blog.

BONUS TIP 2: How long should each post be? A good word count is around 500 words.

✔️ SEO Keywords

SEO is key. The keywords you use throughout your post should be relevant to what you do. Plan your keywords before writing the blog post and add those throughout your copy.

BONUS TIP: Include keywords in your post descriptions, tags, and social media posts.

✔️ Internal/External Links

Internal links are specific keywords linked within your blog post to other areas of your website, while external links are keywords linked to another page or website outside of your own.

BONUS TIP: Internal links are excellent because they direct people to other areas of your website, like services and contact forms. Using external links sparingly and toward the end of your post for reference in a footer is ideal because you don’t want to redirect someone off your site. Often, people won’t come back after they click off.

✔️ A Call To Action

By writing a blog, you’re creating it for a purpose, right? Whether it’s to increase the reader’s interest in your services or to educate them on the importance of your product/service, you need to steer them in the direction of taking action after reading your blog. By including a call to action in your blogs, it invites your audience to engage further and encourages them to work with you.

AND most importantly: Don’t forget to create a high-quality post that INFORMS, ENTERTAINS, AND INTERESTS the reader.

Remember to include these vital elements to ensure your blog achieves its purpose and is more likely to succeed in customer conversion and reachability.
